Based on the announcement, the Start Button and TaskBar has been moved to the centre of the screen on Windows 11. The Start button taps into the power of cloud and Microsoft 365 to show recent files regardless of the platform it was assessed, including Android and iOS. It is now possible to create different Desktops for different purposes and Snap apps side-by-side using the new Snap Layouts, Snap Groups and Desktops for multitasking.

Microsoft has integrated the Chats Feature from Microsoft into the taskbar for connecting with users across different platforms (Windows, Android, or iOS). Features targeted at gamers include DirectX 12 Ultimate, DirectStorage, and Auto HDR, and the OS will support PC gaming accessories and peripherals. Users will also get Microsoft Edge and AI-based Widgets which curates news, weather, notifications, and other personalised contents.

Windows 11 will come with a new Microsoft Store which has been redesigned to respond faster and support third-party apps including Microsoft Teams, Visual Studio, Disney+, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom and Canva. It will also support Android apps (downloaded through the Microsoft Store and Amazon Appstore) thanks to Microsoft’s partnership with Amazon and Intel (Intel Bridge technology). It will be available as a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 PCs and on new PCs beginning this holiday season (Fall 2021).
