Apple-owned Beats Electronics has officially announced its latest truly wireless, noise cancelling earbuds – the Beats Studio Buds. The accessory has been spotted on hiphop artistes and athletes; and referenced in recent iOS and tvOS betas. It is priced comfortably at AU$ 199.95 (US$ 149.99), putting it below the AirPods Pro in terms of pricing, and arrives in Black, Red and White colours.

Each earbud (5.1 grams) is fitted with proprietary 8.2mm, dual-element diaphragm driver and two-chamber acoustic design, and both external-facing microphones for picking natural sound and dual-beam forming microphones to focus on user’s voice during phone calls. The earbuds offer one-touch pairing via Bluetooth with both Android and iOS devices.
The sweat and water resistant (IPX4) Beats Studio Buds provides hands-free access to Siri, support for Find My app and Apple Music users can enjoy Spatial Sound with Dolby Atmos on supported tracks. Android users require the Beats Android app to unlock additional benefits such as access to Google Assistant and Find My Device to locate misplaced or lost earbuds.
The earbuds last up to 8 hours of listening time on a single charge and up to 24 hours using the charging case. These numbers go down to 5 hours and 16 hours respectively with either ANC or Transparency Mode turned on. The charging case has a USB-C port instead of lightning port and the physical ‘b’ button on each earbud is there for media control and switching to and from the listening modes. Shipping is scheduled to commence on June 24 in the US and Canada.
