AirPods Pro 2 With USB-C Charging, Lossless Audio

Having made the switch from Lightning port to USB-C on the latest iPhone models, Apple also upgraded the AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C charging. The company yielded to the mandatory EU regulation that requires most mobile devices to use a unified charging port by 2024.

The AirPods Pro 2 (or AirPods Pro (2nd Gen)) joins the iPhone 15 line-up, select Mac and iPads which already have USB-C. It can be charged directly with any of the devices in the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro line-up. Its specs are similar to the original i.e., 2x the Active Noise cancellation, Apple H2 chip, improved transparency mode, immersive Spatial Audio; up to 30 hours of listening time with ANC using the case and multiple ear tip sizes to suit different users.

The charging case has the Apple U1 chip for Precision Finding with Find My and a lanyard loop for attaching as an accessory. The water/dust resistance rating has been improved to IP54 for the case and earbuds. The new model also delivers the following iOS 17 features – Adaptive Audio, Personalised Volumes, and Conversation Awareness.

Customers in the US will be able to enjoy Lossless Audio with ultra-low latency on the Apple Vision Pro, when it arrives next year.  Pricing starts at US$ 249 (A$ 399) while EarPods with USB-C start at US$ 19 (A$ 29).
