iOS 14.5 Arrives with AirTag Support, Unlock iPhone with Apple Watch

During its ‘Spring Loaded’ product launch event last week, Apple announced a host of features including AirTag support would be available with the iOS 14.5 update this week. Fast forward this week, the latest iPhone operating system is now available for free on compatible devices. To get started, simply locate the Settings icon > Select General > Click on Software Update.

iOS 14.5 Features

iOS 14.5 delivers several exciting features including the ability to unlock the iPhone with Apple Watch while wearing a mask, and App Tracking Transparency puts the user in control of apps which track data and activities for advertising and data brokers such as Google and Facebook.

Another highlight is the addition of diverse voice options to Siri in English and support for Group FaceTime as well as asking Siri to call emergency contacts and call notification through AirPods or compatible beat headphones. The update also allows Apple Map users (US and China) to report road incidents through Siri (iPhone) or CarPlay and share expected time of arrival (ETA) when walking or cycling with friends and family.

Other new additions to the iPhone include new emoji, AirTag support, redesigned Apple Podcasts app, redesigned News+ tab and all-new search experience in Apple news, 5G improvements to iPhone 12, Apple Fitness+ streaming AirPlay 2-enabled devices, updated reminders app and expanded language support voice control for accessibility.

iOS 14.5 is compatible with the following devices: iPhone 12 series (12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max), iPhone 11 series (11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max), iPhone X series (X, XR, XS, and XS Max), iPhone 8 series (8, 8 Plus), iPhone 7 series (7 and 7 Plus), iPhone 6S series (6S and 6s Plus), iPhone SE (1st and 2nd generation) and iPod touch (7th generation).
