Gurman: Apple Working On Commemorative Watch X

Apple is reportedly working behind the scenes to release a commemorative Watch X for the 10th year anniversary of the Apple Watch. The new watch is expected to undergo a major design overhaul and won’t be released until 2024 or 2025, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The Apple Watch X is expected to arrive with features not expected from the upcoming 2023 model – the Watch Series 9. The Watch Series 9 is expected to retain the same screen sizes as its predecessor – 41mm and 45mm (while the second-gen Ultra Watch will have the same 47mm size as the original). For the first time since the Series 6, there will be a new processor – the S9 chip.

Gurman belies the Watch X will have a thinner watch case, a micro-LED display, blood pressure sensor, and magnetic band attachment points. By giving up the existing mechanical band attachments for magnetic, the company could instead use the space to include more components such as a bigger battery. One thing to note is that the magnetic bands won’t be compatible with existing watch bands.

Various supply chain reports expect the company to release a Watch with micro-LED display, however, there have been production issues because some of the panels turn out defective. There is over a year or two for the Watch X to become a reality; so, we will keep you updated on it.
