Software Updates

Apple is expected to announce iOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13, and tvOS 16. They all have the respective codenames: Sydney, Kincaid, Rome, and Paris. iOS 16 (Sydney), which will also be the bedrock for iPadOS 16, could arrive with some new and upgraded health tracking features (iOS and Apple Watch), multitasking interface (iPad), and updates to notifications. There will, however, not be any overhaul in the design.

New Hardware – New Macs, No VR Headset

Gurman reports that there are two new Macs in the works including a new MacBook Air. The company is also working on updated 24-inch iMac and Mac mini models as well as low-end MacBook Pro to replace the current 13-inch MacBook pro. New iMac Pro and Mac Pro models are also said to be in development.

Apple’s long-rumoured mixed reality headset will reportedly not make this year’s WWDC, however, it is estimated to arrive before the year ends or the following year. The event could however be used to preview the reality operating system (rOS) for AR and VR devices. iOS 16 make various references to rOS which means the device will most likely arrive before iOS 17 go official in 2023.
