According to a report by TechCrunch, Tile is working behind doors to incorporate ultra-wideband (UWB) technology into its upcoming tracking product. This tracker would be closely related to the Tile Mate and Tile Pro in terms of design but would include ultra-wideband tech to offer more precise, high accuracy tracking than its current line-up of trackers that connect via Bluetooth only.

UWB is a short-range radio technology which operates at higher frequency and offers an accuracy better than known standards such as Bluetooth low-energy (LE) and Wi-Fi. Besides the traditional ping from the tracker when an item is located, the addition of AR into the mobile app means that it would lead the user right to the location. While Apple has not announced the AirTags in any form, popular Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo believes the product is coming at some point this year.

The UWB feature has been available since the iPhone 11 was integrated with the U1 chip and was carried on into the new iPhone 12 line-up and the new Watch Series 6. It is also available on select Android devices including the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the upcoming Galaxy S21 Ultra. There is still no word regarding the potential launch of this Tile ultra-wideband tracker.
