Speaking on the partnership, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, Oliver Schusser said:

“Rihanna is an incredible recording artist who is a favorite for many millions of Apple Music customers around the world. We’re excited to partner with Rihanna, Roc Nation and the NFL to bring music and sports fans a momentous show — what an incredible artist for the inaugural Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.”

The Halftime show has been a part of the Super Bowl since the 60s. However, it became more prominent when Michael Jackson headlined the 1993 Halftime show and ever since then, there has been several big-name headliners including Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Shakira, Bruno Mars, Prince, Madonna and more. This year’s halftime show (SBLVI), headlined by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, won three out of five Creative Arts Emmy nominations.
