Apple’s 5G modem partner, Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, its latest 5G modem-to-antenna solution for premium mobile devices and other 5G usage. Both companies have a historical love-hate relationship, however, they have put their recent differences aside and collaborated on the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro lineup.

MacRumours recently spotted a recent roadmap for future Apple products, which revealed that the company intends to use the already announced Snapdragon X60 5G Modem-RF system in upcoming products scheduled between June 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022.
It also intends to use the just announced Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System and yet-to-be announced Snapdragon X70 5G Modem-RF System. These modems could find their way into future Apple products released between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2024.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System Key Specs
Built on Samsung’s new 4nm process, the Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF system is the world’s first 10 Gigabit 5G and first 3GPP release 16 modem-RF system. The modem delivers 10Gbps download speeds and features an upgradeable architecture which allows seamless customization, and new features via software updates. It also features the 4th-gen Qualcomm QTM545 mmWave antenna which transmits higher power and support global mmWave frequencies.
Finally, Qualcomm also highlighted the presence of Qualcomm 5G PowerSave 2.0, Qualcomm Smart Transmit 2.0, and the world’s first AI antenna tuning technology to ensure notable improvement in cellular performance and power-efficiency. It is expected to arrive in devices by the end of 2021, which guarantees their presence in 2022 iPhones.
