Official: Apple Watch Series 7 with Larger Display, watchOS 8

Apple has refreshed its smartwatch ecosystem with the Apple Watch Series 7. It delivers all the health and wellness features expected from the series including the ECG app, electrical heart sensor, Blood Oxygen (app and sensor) and more. The latest watch model features an Always-On Retina display with 20% more screen area than its predecessor, up to 70% brighter display, IP6X- rating (dust resistance) and WR50 water resistance rating.

The Apple Watch Series 7 is about 20% larger than the Watch Series 6 and about 50% larger than the Series 3. It is available in either 41mm or 45mm sizes and will mark the debut of watchOS 8. The UI has been optimised to make the most of the bigger display and ease of usage. As such, there are two larger font sizes, and new QWERTY keyboard (tapping or swiping).

The watch lasts up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge and charges faster (33%) than its predecessor via a new charging architecture and magnetic fast charger (USB-C cable). The Watch Series 7 will arrive in five aluminium case colours (Green, Midnight, New Blue, PRODUCT(RED) and Starlight) with new and existing compatible bands. Apple has also teamed up with frequent collaborators – Nike and Hermes to release the Apple Watch Nike and Apple Watch Hermès with exclusive new bands and watch faces. The lineup will be available later in the fall.

Apple has also extended the availability of Fitness+ to 15 more countries later this year. The  fitness service will deliver guided meditation to reduce everyday stress, Pilates, workouts for the snow season, and new modes including Group workouts with SharePlay (up to 32 persons at one).
