macOS Monterey 12.3 Arrives with Universal Control

Following last week’s arrival of the Mac Studio and Studio Display, Apple has released the macOS Monterey 12.3, the third major update to macOS Monterrey. It delivers the long-awaited Universal Control (beta) feature, which was introduced at the WWDC in June 2021. The update is available for all eligible Mac devices using the Software Update section in System Preferences. Users who chose to stay with macOS BigSur will instead get the upgrade to version 11.6.5.

Universal Control allows iPad (with iPadOS 15.4) and Mac desktop/laptop (any Mac from 2016 onwards) owners control both devices using a single mouse or trackpad. The cursor will move seamlessly across both devices allowing texts to be typed and files to be dragged and dropped. It is compatible with up to three devices and requires at least one Mac in the mix.
