MAC News Round Up: Apple’s VR/AR Headset, $99 AirPods Lite and More

Apple has been in the news for the past few weeks for a variety of reasons. The company has been reportedly working hard on its AR/VR headset (while other sources believe it has been delayed again), which is expected to arrive sometime this year with xrOS as the software. The tech giant is also working on new AirPods to increase options within the range as well as increase sales with a cheaper model to keep up with competitors.

Apple’s AR/VR Headset Set For 2023 Launch

Apple’s AR/VR headset is set to hit the markets in 2023. The company, which has been reluctant to get into the augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) space, is reportedly focusing on delivering a mixed-reality (AR and VR) headset before the end of the year. The headset is expected to look like ski googles and feature several cameras for real-time tracking.

There is no word on the potential apps and what experience to precisely expect. Bloomberg’s Mark Gruman (via TechCrunch) reports that, Apple’s AR/VR headset is expected to make an appearance at this year’s WWDC as the Reality Pro. There are also talks of the operating system being called xrOS (formerly known as RealityOS). We will stay tuned to see how this unfolds.

$99 AirPods Lite and New AirPods Max

Apple is reportedly working on a new affordable AirPods and the second generation of AirPods Max. The cheaper AirPods (AirPods Lite) is expected to be priced around $99, in order to increase the demand for AirPods. The company is also reportedly working on the AirPods Max 2 and AirPods (4th-Gen). All are set to arrive in the second half of 2024 or the first half of 2025.

Apple Fitness+ Adds Kickboxing, new Trainers, and Beyoncé Workout

Apple’s Fitness+ service added a new Kickboxing, a new total-body cardio workout type to build full-body fitness. These sessions are 10, 20 or 30 minutes long and led by Jamie-Ray Hartshorne and Nez Dally as well as Brian Cochrane and Jenn Lau. Other new additions include a new Sleep meditation theme, two new collections, and new workouts built around Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE album (Jan 9) as well as Foo Fighters (16 Jan) and Bad Bunny (23 Jan).

Apple Business Connect

With Business Connect, businesses have a free tool to customize the way key business information (place cards) appear in Apple products such as Maps, Messages, Wallet, Siri, and others. Once businesses claim their place cards, customers will be able to take actions such as ordering food/items, check opening times, make reservations and do more.
