The company’s USB-C chargers and cables for the iPhone 15 series are expected to fall under the MFi (Made For iPhone/iPod/iPad) program.

The company will require iPhone 15’s USB-C chargers and cables to be MFi certified, according to popular analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo. He revealed that manufacturing is currently ongoing for the 20W USB-C power adapters, however, they require MFi certified cables to charge optimally and support fast charging. Only accessories that receive the certification are deemed safe by the company.

Mobile users outside of the Apple ecosystem will not find this news pleasing, considering their non-MFi certified cables might charge slowly. The current iPhone 14 base series support 20W fast charging while the 14 Pro series support 27W fast charging. Apple expects a 120% increase in shipment for the 20W USB-C chargers, which could translate into around 230 – 240 units.
