iPhone 13 Camera Features Will Differentiate It From iPhone 12

The next generation of iPhones – the iPhone 13 series (or iPhone 12s series as some believe) is expected to make their debut at the accustomed September event. The lineup is said to deliver a few incremental features including bigger batteries, up to 1TB storage, A15 Bionic chip, LiDAR on all models and 120Hz ProMotion displays, however, they would retain the same screen sizes (5.4-inch, 6.1-inch & 6.7-inch) as the iPhone 12/12 Pro series. Having the same exterior (minus the expected smaller notch) could make it difficult to differentiate between both generations of iPhones.

Portrait Mode was added to the iPhone’s main camera in 2016 (iPhone 7 Plus) and Portrait mode for selfies arrived with iPhone X. The feature uses software to add bokeh effects to photos i.e., putting the subject in focus and blurring out the background. Portrait Mode for video, called “Cinematic Video”, will equip users with the ability to record videos and add bokeh effects to it.

Creative professionals will be able to record high-quality videos with the ProRes video mode on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models. Apple’s ProRes video recording normally supports up to 8K video resolution, however, the phone models will record in either HD or 4K screen resolution.
