One of the other features in iOS 16.3 (and iPadOS 16.3) includes ‘Security Keys for Apple ID’. In addition to the already available two-factor authentication in Apple ID, users who opt-in will be able to use third-party hardware security keys to login on new devices.

To setup Security keys for Apple ID, locate the Settings > Profile > Password and Security.

The update also extends Advanced Data Protection for iCloud to users globally, include support for HomePod (2nd-Gen), new Unity Wallpaper for Black History Month (February) and a new way to trigger the Emergency SOS (side button + up or down volume button). There are a bunch of bug and security fixes including the horizontal line issue when waking up the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple also issued iOS 15.7.3, iPadOS 15.7.3, and iOS 12.5.7 for devise that haven’t made the upgrade to iOS 16 yet. These updates address different security vulnerabilities on iPhones models and iPad models running these versions of the software. To access the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update.
