iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4

The major highlight of this update is the ability to unlock the iPhone’s Face ID while wearing a face mask. With the ongoing mask mandates around the world due to the Covid 19 pandemic, most iPhone users are required to remove their masks to unlock Face ID on their phone or make payments using Apple Pay. This feature resolves that by authenticating the area of the eyes not covered by the mask. Users with recommended glasses will also enjoy this feature.

iOS 15.4 also introduced the ‘Tap To Pay’ on iPhone feature for US businesses to receive contactless payment. While iPadOS 15.4 (and macOS Monterey 12.3) announces the arrival of the long-awaited Universal Control. The feature allows the owners of iPad and Mac devices (signed into the same iCloud account) to control both devices with a single keyboard and mouse/trackpad.

The rest of the features include 36 new emojis (up to 75 skin tone additions), gender neutral voice for Siri, new homescreen widget for Apple Card, and deeper SharePlay integration. Users can also add notes to password entries in iCloud KeyChain and setup custom email domain in iCloud Mail (requires iCloud+ subscription). There are various other bug fixes and security updates.
