Cardio Fitness Notifications Now Available on Apple Watch

One of the notable features highlighted during the release of iOS 14.3 and watchOS 7.2 software updates was the addition of a new Cardio fitness notifications feature to the Apple Watch. Users will be able to check their cardio fitness level in the health app on the iPhone and receive notification on the Watch when it is in the low range alongside appropriate health guidance.

Before the update, Apple Watch only estimates average and higher level of cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2 max) during rigorous activities such as hiking, outdoor walking and running. watchOS 7.2 update now allows the Watch to estimate lower cardio fitness level using multiple sensors and performs this action when there is no activity and workout involved.

Users can assess their cardio fitness level classification (whether high, above average, below average, or low), and changes over time (past week, month, or year). This information will be cross-examined with data collected from people within the same age group and same sex by the Fitness Registry and Importance of Exercise National Database (FRIEND).

Tip: To set up the Cardio Fitness Levels feature and turn on Cardio Fitness notifications, Apple Watch users can visit the Health app on the iPhone.
