Apple’s September 2021 Keynote Recap – New iPhones, iPads and Watch

The dust is starting to settle on Apple’s September 2021 Keynote. The event saw the launch of new iPhones – iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max; new iPads – iPad (9th-gen) and iPad mini (6th-gen) and the Apple Watch Series 7. They all boast noticeable amounts of upgrades over their predecessors and will arrive with all the latest software updates announced at the WWDC 2021.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro

The new base and Pro iPhones 13 models are available in the following screen sizes: iPhone 13 & 13 mini, 13 Pro & 13 Pro Max (6.1-inch and 6.7-inch). The pro models’ OLED display feature ProMotion technology with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate (from 10Hz to 120Hz) and advanced triple camera system instead of the two on the non-pro models. They all have the A15 Bionic processor, smaller display notch, 5G connectivity, IP68-rating, longer lasting batteries and MagSafe support.

iPad (9th-gen) and iPad mini (6th-gen)

Starting at 64GB and goes up to 256GB, the new iPad (9th-gen) takes its place bottom of the iPad range with Apple’s A13 Bionic, 10.2-inch Retina display with True Tone technology, and LTE connectivity. Meanwhile, the new iPad mini (6th-gen) is equipped with the more powerful A15 Bionic, USB-C port, bigger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and 5G connectivity.

The new iPads have Touch ID, all-day battery life, support for Apple Pen, iPadOS 15 and 12MP ultrawide camera with the Center stage that was introduced with the iPad Pro.

Apple Watch Series 7

The 7th series of the Apple Watch arrives in slightly bigger sizes – 41mm and 45mm; Always-On Retina display with up to 20% more screen area, two unique watch faces — Contour and Modular Duo; IP6X (dust resisitance) and WR50 (water resistance) rating, and watchOS 8. It maintains the same 18 hours battery life but charges up to 33% faster charging (via USB-C) than its predecessor.

The Watch will continue to offer relevant health and fitness features including electrical heart sensor, ECG and Blood Oxygen apps, new Mindfulness app, sleep respiratory rate tracking, Tai Chi and Pilates workout types, New Wallet and Home app functionality, fall detections and cycling updates. Through Apple Fitness, the watch will gain guided meditation, Workouts to Get Ready for Snow Season and Group Workouts with SharePlay.
