During the opening keynote of this year’s WWDC, Apple previewed the updates coming to the software powering its products. Among them is the watchOS 8 for the Apple Watch and tvOS 15 for Apple TV. Both updates will be available by Fall 2021 for compatible devices.

- Apple Watch will potentially be able to securely unlock cars, home, office and eventually, hotel with the digital car keys powered by Ultra Wideband support. Apple is also bringing driver’s license or State ID to the Wallet app later this year.
- The redesigned Home app now offers easier access to accessories and better control by room. Users can also use intercom to broadcast message throughout the home or individual rooms.
- Mindfulness will replace the Breathe app.
- Pilates and Tai Chi joins the list of workout types available.
- Replacing the Breathe app, the Mindfulness app combines both breathing and Reflect experiences.
- Sleep respiration rate tracking and new Portraits watch face.
- Photos app has been revamped to highlight memories. Both memories and featured photos now sync to Apple Watch.
- New Share Sheet feature allows for sharing photos via Mail and Messages.
- Users can now use dictation and emoji alongside Scribble in the same message.
- Contacts app available to Apple Watch
- Includes support for Focus, a new tool to set distraction-free profile.
- Apps such as Maps, Podcasts, Mindfulness, and more support Always-On display
tvOS 15
These are the highlights of the key features coming to Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (2017) and Apple TV 4K (2021).
- Select HomePod mini as default speaker for Apple TV models.
- Adds Support for Spatial Audio with AirPods Pro and AirPods Max for the purpose of enjoying surround experience and dynamic headtracking.
- SharePlay in Control Center and ‘Shared with You’ section in the tv app.
- Siri voice command for media.
