Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen) – S8 Chip & Crash Detection

Alongside the Apple Watch Series 8, the company also announced the Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen). The new smartwatch is designed to deliver all the familiar watch experiences such as high and low heart rate notifications, Emergency SOS, cycle tracking, fall detection and activity tracking alongside the new Crash Detection feature, which prompts emergency services to come to the aid of the user when unresponsive in a car crash. It also contacts listed emergency contacts.

Starting at $249 (AU$ 399), Apple Watch SE (2nd Gen) comes with the same watch design as the previous generation, however, it has a redesigned back case made from nylon composite materials and comes in three stylish new finishes – Midnight, Silver, and Starlight. It is powered by the S8 SiP advanced dual-core processor – the same processor used by the Watch Series 8 and Watch Ultra. This processor is 20% faster than the previous generation.

It also comes pre-loaded with watchOS 9 which delivers the new Compass app, international roaming, Workout app, customisable watch faces and Sleep tracking. The smartwatch is available in 40mm and 44mm aluminum cases, and is compatible with all bands. It is open for pre-order today and availability is scheduled to commence on September 16.
