Apple has announced the AirPods Pro 2 (AirPods Pro (2nd-Gen)) – the second generation of the AirPods Pro. The premium earbuds deliver a handful of upgrades over its predecessor – such as its faster processor, improved listening modes, new touch control and new way to experience Spatial Audio. It is priced starting at US$ 299 (AU$ 399) and available in stores from September 23.

It is backed by Apple’s new H2 chip, which offers upgrade in performance over the H1 chip. It comes with an additional ear tip size (XS) and new Adaptive Transparency mode, which tunes out unnecessary noises such as those from construction work but allow important sounds.
Users can now personalise their immersive listening experience with Personalised Spatial Audio. Each user can create a Spatial Audio profile based on individual features such as size and shape of the head and ears). Features such as Instant pairing and media playback control can now be accessed from the new AirPods settings coming to Settings in IOS 16.

Battery life has also improved considerably over the previous generation. It lasts up to 6hrs of usage (1.5 hours more) with ANC on and the case provides up to 30 hours of total listening time (6 hours more) with ANC on. The charging case now includes a lanyard loop, Precision Finding (a U1-enabled iPhone can locate using Find My) and built-in speaker to play sounds for easy location. It is sweat and water resistant, and now supports charging via the Apple Watch charger. Other charging options are via Lightning cable, MagSafe charger and Qi-certified charging mat.
