Apple Unleashed Event Recap – New Mac, AirPods 3, Others

Apple’s second fall event saw new products and service announcements. The Cupertino-based introduced a new Siri-based Apple Music plan, new colour options for the HomePod mini, and the new MacBook Pro powered by the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors. The company’s first fall event introduced the iPhone 13/iPhone 13 Pro, Apple Watch Series 7, and iPads.

All the new products are available to order this week and will start arriving by next week (October 26). The three advertised colour options for the HomePod mini will arrive by November and there is a polishing cloth for screen cleaning listed on the Apple Store for U$ 19 (AU$ 29). Apple Music Voice Plan (US$ 4.99/AU$ 5.99): The new Apple Music Voice Plan delivers all the benefits of Apple Music through Siri. It is currently the cheapest plan available on the streaming platform and subscription can be done via the app or simply asking Siri to subscribe. Users will also get a customised in-app experience and full playback control.

HomePod Mini (US$ 99/AU$ 149): The HomePod mini is now available in three new bold colours: Blue, Orange, and Yellow. They join the already available Space Grey and White colours.

AirPods 3 (US$ 179/AU$ 279): The redesigned AirPods 3rd Generation or simply AirPods 3 slots right in between the AirPods 2 and the AirPods Pro. It is powered by the Apple H1 chip and offers features such as Adaptive EQ, Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, IPX4 rating (earbuds and case), MagSafe charging and up to 30 hours of listening time with the charging case.

Apple M1 Pro and M1 Max: Following last year’s M1 processor, Apple has unveiled not one but two new Mac processors – the M1 Pro and M1 Max. They are manufactured using a 5nm process and have 10-core CPUs (8x high-performance + 2x energy-efficient). The Pro has a 16-core GPU and supports up to 32GB RAM while the Max has a 32-core GPU and supports up to 64GB RAM.

MacBook Pro (14-inch – From US$ 1,999/AU$ 2,999) |16-inch – From US$ 2,499/AU$ 3,749): The new MacBook Pro can be configured with either the M1 Pro or M1 Max processors and available in either 14-inch or 16-inch models. It has a Mini-LED display with 120Hz ProMotion technology, 1090p HD camera in the display notch, MagSafe 3 port for fast charging, 1x HDMI port, 1x SDXC card reader, and 3x Thunderbolt 4 ports. It comes pre-loaded with macOS monterey.
