Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass Subscriptions Has Doubled Since Messi Signed

Subscriptions for Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass has reportedly doubled since Football Soccer’s Greatest of All Time (GOAT), Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer (MLS). MLS and League Cup games are available for streaming live on Apple TV owing to the 10-year, US$ 2.5 billion exclusive broadcast deal signed by the league and Apple Inc.

According to a post on X, formerly Twitter, by Inter Miami Managing Owner, Jorge Mas, subscriptions for the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV have doubled since the arrival of the ex- Barcelona and PSG player. He also added that Spanish Language viewership has surpassed over 50% in the matches Messi has so far played in and the number will continue to grow.

The MLS has not officially confirmed these claims, however, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook retweeted the post to promote the service. In Apple’s Q3 results, the CEO confirmed that although the deal is in its early days, the company’s expectations for the MLS have so far been exceeded and the arrival of Messi has played a role in that. Reports suggest he gets a cut of the revenue from new subscribers signing up for the MLS season Pass.

Lionel Messi has hit the ground running since his arrival in Major league Soccer. He has scored eight (8) goals in five league cup appearances and tickets prices for Inter Miami games has skyrocketed, however, they are being sold-out within 10 – 20 minutes. His Inter Miami CF deal was reportedly facilitated by Adidas (his kit sponsor), Apple, and the MLS. It also includes the option for part-ownership of Inter Miami.
