Apple TV+ joined iCloud+, Arcade, and News+ (News Plus) on the company’s list of subscription-based services. It is an ad-free streaming service for original content (movies and shows) produced and distributed by the Cupertino-based American company. Content such as Ted Lasso, The Morning Show (Morning Wars), For All Mankind, and more recently, live Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer can be found on the platform.

It is available independently for a US$6.99/A$9.99 per monthly fee or as part of the Apple One subscription program. With ‘Family Sharing’, six people within the same family group are able to access the service as well as others that require subscription. On the other hand, the Apple TV box offers access to content from a variety of devices and platforms in one single place.

Users can watch Arcade, Fitness+, Music, iTunes, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube and more through the company’s website and the Apple TV app. The most recent model comes bundled with a Siri Remote to facilitate voice commands and works as a smart home hub for connected home accessories. It also has Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos.

Conclusion

Apparently, Apple ended up confusing a huge chunk of its customer base with the naming convention for these two products (as well as the all-encompassing app it can be accessed from). The confusion stems from the fact that one of the products can be likened to other set-top boxes or streaming sticks from brands such as Amazon, Roku, Chromecast, and Nvidia

While the other provides similar streaming experience afforded by services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime video, Paramount+ and Disney+; however, the company needs to build up more content to reach the libraries offered by these other services.
