Apple To Move To In-House iPhone Wireless Chips by 2025

Broadcom currently supplies the wireless components used in the production of iPhones, however, that could be changing soon.

Broadcom would be joining Intel and Qualcomm on the list of suppliers which Apple has been working to reduce its dependence on. Bloomberg reports that the tech giant is working on in-house wireless chips for iPhones, which provides both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functions. The iPhone wireless chips, which has the same function as that provided by Broadcom, is set to arrive in 2025.

Apple is also working on another chip which combines Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Cellular functions, eliminating the need entirely for both Qualcomm and Broadcom as suppliers. Forn now, the company has to rely on both companies for the iPhone 15 and possibly the iPhone 16. The iPhone accounts for about half of Apple’s revenue, so it’s only right that it has total control over the components required for its production. The company already partners with TSMC to produce its ARM-based iPhone (A Series) and Mac (M Series) families of chips.
