The in-house chip in question (cue the Apple A14 Bionic) was used on the latest iPhones and iPad Air, and will make its first appearance on Macbooks. They are expected to be more power efficient than Intel SoC, and the switch signifies the end of the company’s 15-year relationship with Intel, which was announced at the WWDC in June. Like everything Apple, there are no clues in the invites sent out, however, the ‘One More Thing’ catchphrase has an history with Apple keynotes.

The Cupertino-based company is expected to unveil three new Apple Silicon-powered Macbooks – the 13-inch MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13, and MacBook Pro 16 at this event. Asides this key change, the specs for the Macbooks are expected to remain the same including the ability to run iPad and iPhone apps. While the new Mac could be the highlight for this event, there are chances that the company could also announce other rumoured devices such as its own branded over-the-ear headphones (Airpods Studio) and the long-awaited AirTags with U1 chip.
