Creators can now charge monthly or annual subscriptions for premium content while listeners can enjoy free or pay directly for shows and collection of shows through channels whilst also enjoying perks such as early-access, additonal and archives spisodes, and ad-free listening.

To ensure an abundance of contents across different genres and formats on Apple Podcasts Subscriptions and Channels, Apple has teamed up with well-known independent creators; podcast brands such as Lemonada Media, Luminary, Realm, and Wondery; media and entertainment conglomerates such as CNN, NPR, The Washington Post, and Sony Music Entertainment.

Listeners automatically follow their preferred shows once subscription is paid, and the ‘Subscriber’ tag is ascribed to indicate access to paid content. Channels can be discovered directly through the show page or through the search, explore option in Listen Now (‘Channels To Try’) and Browse tabs (‘Featured Channels’). To sign up for the service, all the listener needs is their Apple ID and Apple devices running iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, watchOS 7.5, tvOS 14.6, and macOS 11.4 or later.

One subscription can be shared with up to six (6) people within Family Sharing. To manage the subscription, simply visit the ‘Subscriptions’ under ‘Apple ID’ to cancel or renew.
