Apple M2 Pro and M2 Max For Macs Now Official

Apple has unveiled the next generation of Apple silicon in the M2 family of chips – the M2 Pro () and M2 Max. Both chips are powerful in their own way as they offer up to 12-core CPU, up to 19 and 38 GPU cores, faster 16-core Neural Engine, next-gen Secure Enclave and new media engine. The new iteration was announced with new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro as well as the Mac Mini.

Apple M2 Pro

The M2 Pro has 10- or 12-core CPU with 200GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, up to 19-core GPU configuration with larger L2 cache, and up to 32GB of low-latency unified memory. In terms of performance, the Apple M2 Pro offers up to 20-percent faster multithreaded CPU performance, up to 30-percent faster graphics speed and close to 20-percent more transistors than the M1 Pro. It has double the number of transistors and twice the unified memory bandwidth of the M2 chip.

Apple M2 Max

The M2 Max also delivers 12-core CPU but packs 67 billion transistors (27 billion more than the M2 Pro, 10 billion more than M1 Max and 3x that of the M2). It also offers 400GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, up to 38-core GPU with larger L2 cache, and up to 96GB of unified memory. In terms of performance, it offers up to 30-percent faster graphics speed than the M1 Max and 2x faster video encoding than M2 Pro.
