WWDC22: Apple M2-Powered MacBook Air and MacBook Pro

Apple has announced a new MacBook Air and updated MacBook Pro powered by the all-new M2 chip. The former comes with a new thin design (11.3mm thin and 1.24kg weight) and all-aluminium unibody in four finishes — Silver, Space Grey, Midnight, and Starlight; while the latter retains the same compact form but has been updated with the Apple M2 chip for faster performance.

The M2-Powered MacBook Air features a larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone and 500nits of brightness, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, up to 18 hours of video playback time and MagSafe charging has been re-introduced. The rest of the specs include 2x Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports for connecting accessories, 3.5mm audio jack, four-speaker sound system and support for fast charging with an optional 67W charger.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip has the Retina display with True tone, up to 20 hours of video playback time, 2x Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, ProRes acceleration and up to 24GB of unified memory. Pricing starts at AU$ 1,899 for the M2-powered MacBook Air and goes up to AU$ 2,349 while the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Chip starts at AU$ 1,999 and goes up to AU$ 2,299. Both models will be available online and in stores from July.
