iOS 15.4 and iPad OS 15.4 Now Available

Apple Release iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 with SharePlay

Along with the public release of macOS monterey, Apple released iOS 15.1 and iPadOS 15.1 with the much-anticipated SharePlay feature which wasn’t available at launch. The update is free and manually available to download on all eligible iPhones and iPads via Settings > General > Software Update. Those with automatic update toggled-on would have the update installed overnight.

Alongside SharePlay on FaceTime, iOS 15.1 delivers ProRes video capture support for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max as well as the option to toggle off the camera’s “Auto Macro” mode. HomePod and HomePod mini users get Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio support. Others include adding COVID-19 vaccination card to the Apple Wallet, Mandarin Chinese (Taiwan) translation support and new shortcut features including the option to add text to images and gifs as well as new games on Siri.

As expected, there were bug fixes including upgraded battery algorithms for iPhone 12 models. iPadOS 15.1 comes with similar features as its iOS sibling and adds support for Live Text in the iPad camera app. It however, doesnt include the iPhone 13 Pro series camera updates, adding COVID-19 vaccination card to Apple Wallet and fixing the battery issue with iPhone 12 models.
