Apple Delivers Minor Changes With iOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6, tvOS 14.7

Apple has officially released iOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6, and tvOS 14.7 to compatible devices. The respective software updates deliver support for the new MagSafe Battery Pack and bug fixes for iPhones; ECG support for additional regions and bug fixes on Apple Watch; and general performance and stability improvements on Apple TV.

Alongside iOS 14.7, there is an accompanying HomePod 14.7 for the HomePod mini and original HomePod. It delivers the ability to manage timers directly from the Home app on the iPhone as well as general performance and stability improvements. As at the time of publishing this article, there is still no iPadOS 14.7 which is unusual because most of the updates arrive together.

iOS 14.7

The seventh major update to iOS 14 delivers delivers support for the MagSafe Battery Pack, which is compatible with the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. The Home app also gains the ability to manage timers on HomePod and Apple Card users (US) can now combine credit limits by merging two Apple Cards into one account (US). Other improvements include the Weather and Maps apps gaining Air Quality information for Canada, France, Italy, Netherlands, South Korea, and Spain; and Podcasts library now includes the option to select all shows or only followed shows.

The update also fixes several bugs including Dolby Atmos and Apple Music losslss audio playback stopping unexpectedly, battery service message which vanishes after rebooting has been restored for select iPhone 11 models and the Share playlist option returning to Apple Music. Even though it was not mentioned, Macrumors reports that the bug issue which causes the iPhone’s Wi-Fi to stop after connecting to the network named “%p%s%s%s%s%n” has now been fixed.

iOS 14.7 might be the one of the last key updates released before the arrival of iOS 15 in the Fall. To get the update manually, visit Settings > General > Software Update, then select ‘Download and Install’. Those who have Automatic Updates enabled will get the update overnight.

watchOS 7.6

Since watchOS 8 is in public beta, the sixth major and possibly the final watchOS 7 update only delivers support for the ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications to 30 additional regions. There is no other significant changes or fixes that comes with this update.

To make the switch to watchOS 7.6, visit the Watch app on iPhone and select My Watch > General > Software Update, tap Download and Install. To install the update, the Watch must have at least 50% battery charge and must be within the reach of the iPhone.

tvOS 14.7

Apple only releases the details behind new tvOS updates when they are significant ones. tvOS 14.7 is a minor one, hence, it basically delivers general performance and stability improvements. Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K owners who have automatic software updates enabled will get upgrade. To check for the update manually, locate the Settings app on Apple TV, select System > Software Update, select Download and Install.
