The headset is expected to prepare developers and consumers for the eventual release of its more mainstream AR glasses. The headset (codenamed N301) is said to be in the late prototype stage and Apple has reportedly included a high-res display, a chipset more powerful than the Apple M1 for Mac and long-lasting battery in the headset to be used as a standalone device.

There is also a model with a cooling fan and users with custom prescription lenses would be able to slot them into the headset. Apple’s upcoming AR Glass (codenamed N421) is said to be its early stages of development and the company was targeting a possible 2023 release date. The glass is expected to be lightweight, offer map directions and internet connectivity, and lasting battery life.
