The March 8 Spring event comes with the tagline “Peek Performance” which suggests that the next generation of Apple Silicon (Apple M2) could be upon us. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the company is expected to announce the low-cost 5G iPhone SE, a new iPad Air with a faster processor (likely the Apple A15), updated Mac Mini, and at least, one new Mac with the M2.

The 5G iPhone SE is expected to retain the same design as its predecessor, the iPhone SE (2nd gen) however, it would arrive with a faster processor, better cameras, 5G connectivity, possible fingerprint reader (Touch ID) and pricing could be around the USD 200 – 250 (AUD 275 – 345) range. The company is also expected to announce the new iPad Air with 5G connectivity, better FaceTime cameras for Center stage and faster A series processor.

Performance wise, the M2 chip is expected to slot ahead of the M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max, however, we would have to wait for the announcement to see what Apple has in store for us. The company would also be using the medium to announce the iOS 15.4 which should be available one or two weeks after the announcement. It is expected to deliver Face ID with a Mask, Universal Control, new emojis, New Siri voice (American), changes to AirTag, and more.
