Apple Announce Apple Card Family, Podcasts Subscriptions

Apple kicked off its spring-loaded 2021 event with the announcement of the Apple Card Family and Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. The former allows people within the same Family Sharing group to share their Apple Card, track purchases, manage spending and build credit together, while the latter is a global marketplace for users to discover premium subscription shows on Apple Podcasts.

Apple Card Family

To allow two people (18 years and above) especially couples and partners build credit together, Apple now allows Apple Card users to share credit cards and merge credit lines. Parents can now share their card with their children but put the necessary spending limits and restrictions in place to help them develop better spending habits. Apple users within the Family Sharing group (up to five people at least 13 years of age) can track their spending in the Apple Wallet app on iPhone.

The Apple Card also offers Daily Cash which see users get 3% of purchase daily as cash on Apple Cash card. When the Apple Card is used with Apple Pay, users get unlimited 2% Daily Cash and 3% Daily Chas on purchases made directly on Apple Platforms including stores, services, and websites. On the titanium Apple Card, users 1% daily cash on purchases. In the US, the Apple Card family will arrive with the latest iOS update sometime in May.

Apple Podcasts Subscriptions

With Apple Podcasts subscriptions, users get access to benefits like ad-free listening, exclusive content, and early preview to new series. The subscription covers premium subscriptions from notable and popular platforms such as TenderFoot TV, Pushkin Industries, Radiotopia from PRX, QCODE, NPR, the Los Angeles Times, The Athletic, Sony Music Entertainment, and many more.

Apple Podcasts Subscriptions

Apple also announced the redesigned Podcast app will arrive alongside the iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, and macOS 11.3 software updates. The app now features an enhanced Search tab for quick access to charts and categories, new Smart Play button, and save episodes for offline downloads. The new ‘Apple for Creators’ website will help creators stay up-to-date about the podcasting business as well as news and in-depth guides.

They can also enroll into the new Apple Podcasters Program within the Apple Podcasts Connect dashboard to access premium subscription tools required by Apple Podcasts. While users will continue to have access to free and paid content, creators are in-charge of setting the monthly and annual pricing for shows. Free trials and sample episodes will be available to lure in listeners. Apple Podcasts Subscriptions will arrive starting May in more than 170 countries and regions.
