Apple Unveil 9th-Gen iPad with A13 Bionic, iPadOS 15

Apple has unveiled the 9th-gen iPad at its ‘California Streaming’ virtual event. It maintains the same design as the previous generation; however, it is now powered by the Apple A13 Bionic, which delivers 20% faster CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine performance. This is the same processor which powered the iPhone SE (2nd-Gen) and iPhone 11 and 11 Pro/Pro Max.

According to Apple, the new iPad is 6x faster than the top-selling Android tablet and 3x faster than the top selling chromebook. It is fitted with the upgraded 12MP (122o FOV) ultra-wide front camera which is well suited to the Center Stage feature which arrives with iPadOS 15. The feature automatically detects and keeps all participants in the frame during FaceTime video calls.

The 9th-Gen iPad has a 10.2-inch Retina display with True Tone and support for Apple Pencil (1st Gen), packs up to 256GB storage space, and arrives in Space Gray and Silver colours. Pricing starts at US$ 329 (all customers) and US$ 299 (education customers) for the 64GB storage Wi-Fi model. The 64GB storage Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at US$ 459 (all customers). All the new models are available for order today and will be available by next week (Sep 24).
