All variants of the 2022 iPhone will have Samsung-made LTPO display panels which is capable of 120Hz screen refresh rate. They will also come in only two screen sizes – 6.1-inch (Mini and Base) and 6.7-inch (Pro and Pro Max) as against the three options – 5.4-inch (mini), 6.1-inch (Base and Pro) and 6.7-inch (Pro Max) – available with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 line-up.

Apple has been unofficially confirmed to use this technology on the two iPhone 13 Pro models, leaving the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini with the current 60Hz refresh rate. As expected, Samsung is in pole position to supply LTPO OLED display panels for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max while LG Display will provide LTPS panels for the two low-end iPhones.

Samsung will continue to provide 120Hz LTPO display for iPhone 14 while LG has started acquiring equipment and putting plans in place to convert its LTPS production lines into LTPO, says a Korean outlet. If it manages to get the necessary approval, Apple will have break away from Samsung’s monopoly and have two strong contenders capable of delivering 120Hz LTPO panels.
